PepsiCo India Announces Rs 778 Crore Investment in Assam for Food Manufacturing Hub
Guwahati: PepsiCo India has unveiled ambitious plans to invest Rs 778 crore in the establishment of its first-ever food-centric manufacturing facility in the northeastern state of Assam. This strategic move aims to strengthen the company’s presence in the region and foster local economic growth.
The proposed manufacturing plant, sprawled across a vast 44.2-acre site in Nalbari, is scheduled to commence operations in 2025. This initiative is expected to create employment opportunities for approximately 500 individuals, contributing to the region’s socio-economic development.
PepsiCo India is showcasing its unwavering commitment to supporting local farmers by harnessing cutting-edge technology, supplying high-quality seeds, and facilitating access to affordable machinery. As part of its commitment, the company has set an ambitious target of procuring 50,000 tonnes of potatoes from Assam to produce its renowned Lay’s brand.
Additionally, the plant’s operation is poised to drive an increased demand for cold storage capacity, estimated to reach around 60,000 tonnes in the near future, according to the company’s projections.
