Chief Minister Sangma Evaluates Shillong’s Tech Park Expansion

Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma recently convened a high-level gathering with key officials from the IT and Communications Department to assess the ongoing developments of the second phase of the Tech Park initiative.

Launched in February of last year, the Shillong Technology Park located in Umsawli was established with the ambitious objective of generating more than 1,500 employment opportunities within the thriving IT sector.

This cutting-edge IT Park has already incorporated a state-of-the-art BPO facility, accommodating up to 400 skilled professionals. This endeavor was successfully undertaken in partnership with 24×7.ai, a company deeply committed to substantial investments and the creation of both direct and indirect job opportunities totaling over 2,500 within the next two years.

During the productive meeting, Chief Minister Sangma delved into a range of pertinent subjects, including the IT and ITES Policy, the development of a State Data Centre, the provision of widespread Wi-Fi accessibility within the State Secretariat, the proposed implementation of an e-Cabinet system, and the crucial expansion of last-mile connectivity throughout the picturesque state of Meghalaya.
